Padel Coaching Courses in the UK: Inside the British Padel Academy Coaching Pathway

Padel is one of the fastest growing sports in the UK. New clubs are opening every year and more players are discovering the game for the first time.

But with that growth comes an important question: who is going to coach the next generation of players?

At the British Padel Academy, we believe that coaching is something that develops over time. It’s not simply a case of completing a course and becoming a coach overnight. The best coaches build their understanding of the game through experience, reflection and learning from others.

That philosophy sits at the heart of the British Padel Academy padel coaching courses in the UK, designed by Dan Troy to help raise coaching standards across the country.

A Padel Coaching Pathway – Not Just a Course

Many people searching for padel coaching courses in the UK assume they can simply book a course, complete it, and immediately begin coaching.

At the British Padel Academy, we approach things differently.

Our coaching pathway is designed to support coaches at different stages of their journey. Some participants come from a tennis background and are transitioning into padel coaching. Others are passionate padel players who want to start sharing their knowledge with others. We also see highly skilled players join the courses who want to develop the ability to coach effectively.

What quickly becomes clear is that being a great player does not automatically make someone a great coach.

Coaching requires communication, understanding of technique, and the ability to develop players step by step. That’s why the BPA pathway focuses on learning how to coach, not just how to play.

Level 1: Introduction to Padel Coaching

Our Level 1 padel coaching course is designed as an introduction to coaching padel and understanding the fundamentals of the game.

The course combines theory and practical on-court learning, covering areas such as technique, feeding, movement, and core coaching principles.

Participants leave with a much deeper understanding of the game and how to help others improve. Some go on to pursue coaching as a pathway, while others simply enjoy learning more about the sport and improving their own game.

Importantly, not everyone passes the assessment, but every participant leaves with feedback, new knowledge, and a participation certificate recognising the experience gained.

Why Experience Matters Between Coaching Levels

One of the key principles behind the British Padel Academy coaching pathway is that coaches need time on court between levels.

We deliberately encourage participants to gain real coaching experience before progressing further. Developing as a coach takes time, and the best learning happens when you start applying ideas in real sessions with players.

Progression to Level 2 also requires coaches to demonstrate a certain level of playing and coaching ability. This may include submitting video evidence of feeding, rallying, and coaching scenarios to ensure coaches are ready for the next stage of development.

Level 2: Developing Your Padel Coaching Skills

The Level 2 padel coaching course builds on the foundations from Level 1 and focuses on more advanced coaching techniques.

This course runs over two days and explores areas such as:

  • Advanced shot development

  • Correcting technical mistakes

  • Tactical play and decision-making

  • Coaching groups of players effectively

As with all BPA courses, the emphasis remains on practical learning and real coaching scenarios.

The first Level 2 courses are expected to run in late summer and early autumn, allowing Level 1 coaches time to gain the experience required before progressing.

Building a Coaching Community in UK Padel

Completing a coaching course is just the start of the journey.

At the British Padel Academy, we have created a coaches community designed to support ongoing development for coaches across the UK.

Members of the community benefit from:

  • Monthly in-person training sessions with Dan Troy

  • Regular online coaching meetings to share ideas and challenges

  • Continued access to coaching resources and drills

The goal is simple: to create an environment where coaches can continue learning and improving together.

The BPA Coaches Network

Alongside the community, the BPA Coaches Network connects coaches from across the UK and beyond.

The network allows coaches to share drills, ask questions, discuss coaching challenges, and even share job opportunities within the sport.

With coaches from all over the country — and even internationally — the network has become a valuable way to stay connected and continue learning from others working within the sport.

Raising Coaching Standards in UK Padel

As padel continues to grow rapidly across the UK, the demand for well-trained coaches is increasing just as quickly.

The British Padel Academy coaching pathway aims to support that growth by developing coaches who understand the game deeply and can help players improve at every level.

By focusing on long-term development, practical coaching experience and community learning, the academy is helping raise the standard of coaching across the UK and supporting the future growth of the sport.
