Our BPA Player Pathway
The British Padel Academy Player Pathway provides a structured, long-term route for padel players from age 8 through to performance level (18+). Designed by Head performance coach Dan Troy, the pathway focuses on developing confident, skillful, and intelligent players through clearly defined stages of progression.
Rather than separating junior and performance programmes, BPA operates one continuous pathway built around long-term development, clear standards, and individual progression.
This pathway will be fully launched in 2026 to provide a more structured pathway and development system to those we already train, and those we look forward to welcoming.

Stage 1
Foundation

Focus: Fundamentals, coordination, and enjoyment of the game.
Players develop correct technique, basic tactical awareness, and confidence on court while building strong movement and coordination patterns.
Stage 2
Development

Focus: Improving technique and tactical understanding.
Players begin structured point construction, develop more advanced shots, and build physical and mental foundations for competitive play.
Stage 3
Advanced

Focus: Performance preparation.
Training becomes more intensive, with advanced tactical work, athletic development, and increased competition exposure at regional and national level.
Stage 4
Performance

Focus: National pathway readiness.
Players train with performance-level intensity, preparing for national ranking events, international opportunities, and transition into senior competition environments.
A Proven Training Environment
The Player Pathway is built on the strong training environment already established at the British Padel Academy.
A large group of British junior players currently train with BPA, competing regularly at national level, with several representing Team GB. These players form the foundation of the pathway as it formally launches, setting the standards for commitment, attitude, and performance.
Our Coaching Approach
Across all stages, coaching is based on four key pillars:
-
Technical development
-
Tactical understanding
-
Physical preparation
-
Mental resilience
Players are coached as individuals, not by age alone. Regular assessments support consistent improvement, with a clear focus on long-term development rather than short-term results.
Assessment & Progression
Players are assessed regularly across technical, tactical, physical, and mental areas. Progression between stages is based on sustained performance against clear criteria, not age alone.
Parents receive structured feedback and regular performance reviews, ensuring transparency and clarity at every stage of development.
