Our BPA Coaching Pathway

The British Padel Academy Introduction to Coaching courses follow a clear three-level internal pathway:

Each level builds on the previous one and must be completed in sequence to ensure coaches develop the depth, confidence, and understanding required to progress.

Coaches who completed our Introduction to Coaching course in 2025 will have their training recognised as Level 1, providing a seamless pathway to progress onto Level 2.

Certification & Assessment
The course includes a practical assessment. Certificates are awarded to those who meet the BPA coaching standard on the day. Those who do not meet the assessment standard on the day, still receive a participation certificate and leave with a much clearer technical framework and coaching understanding to take forward.

BPA Introduction to Coaching: CORE

This course is the entry point into coaching padel the BPA way.

Designed for players, aspiring coaches, and existing coaches from other sports, the Core course focuses on padel-specific technique and understanding rather than generic coaching theory. You’ll develop a strong technical base, learn how padel shots are taught and corrected, and gain clarity on common technical errors and progressions.

The day covers key strokes, basic tactical principles, and how to structure simple but effective sessions. While accessible, this is not a surface-level introduction — the emphasis is on quality of understanding, not speed of certification.

This course is ideal for those looking to begin coaching padel, or for coaches who want a deeper, more accurate technical foundation.

BPA Introduction to Coaching: DEVELOPMENT

The Development course builds on the Core course and focuses on applying technical knowledge within real coaching environments.

Here, the emphasis shifts from “what” to “why” and “when”. Coaches learn how to adapt technique to different player types, structure sessions with clearer objectives, and introduce tactical decision-making into training. There is a stronger focus on feeding, drill design, communication, and managing players within group sessions.

This course is particularly valuable for coaches who are already working on court and want to coach with more confidence, clarity, and structure — while staying true to the realities of UK padel.

The Development course deepens understanding without overwhelming, bridging the gap between technical knowledge and effective delivery.

BPA Introduction to Coaching: PERFORMANCE

The Performance course is designed for coaches working with competitive players or those aiming to do so.

*Available later in the year when we have enough coaches passing Level 2

Across two days, this course explores advanced technique, tactical detail, player profiling, and long-term development planning. Coaches learn how to analyse patterns of play, manage progression over time, and support players preparing for competition.

There is a strong emphasis on decision-making, match behaviours, and how training must evolve as players move towards higher levels. Coaches are challenged to think critically about session design, feedback, and the balance between technical work and competitive demands.

This course reflects Dan’s performance coaching philosophy and is suited to coaches seeking depth, clarity, and a more complete understanding of player development.

Why choose the British Padel Academy?

At the British Padel Academy, our courses are designed to offer more than accreditation. We create an environment where coaches don’t just pass a course, they join a community and support network that continues well beyond the initial training.

Through regular follow-up sessions, shared resources, and access to our network of experienced coaches and players, BPA courses ensure your development doesn’t stop once the certificate is earned.

Many coaches who have completed accredited qualifications also choose to train with us, seeking a deeper dive into the technical side of padel. That’s where we specialise: covering not only how to plan and structure sessions, but also how to teach and correct specific shots, adapt to different learning styles, and support players as they progress.

This means BPA coaches leave our courses with the confidence to lead beginner groups while also building the skills to develop players on a performance pathway.

Led by Dan Troy, one of the most respected figures in British padel, our courses carry the benefit of his reputation and expertise. Dan is widely recognised across the UK padel community for developing players and coaches to the highest standards, and his hands-on approach ensures every participant gains insight from his years of elite-level experience.
