Building Better Padel Coaches: Why Community, Passion, and Purpose Drive the British Padel Academy

Padel is growing faster than ever in the UK. New clubs are opening, players are picking up rackets for the first time, and demand for quality coaching has never been higher.

At the British Padel Academy (BPA), we believe that the key to sustaining this growth lies in one simple thing — great coaching.

Coaching is at the heart of everything we do. Great coaches don’t just improve players; they build stronger clubs, inspire communities, and help raise the overall standard of padel across the country.

More Than a Course – A Coaching Community

Our Introduction to Coaching course has quickly become one of the most popular padel coaching courses in the UK. We’re proud of that, but even prouder of what happens after the course.

Graduates don’t just leave with a qualification. They join a thriving community of padel coaches who continue to learn, share ideas, and grow together.

Through ongoing monthly training, mentorship, and support from leading brands, our coaches have access to a network that helps them succeed long after the course ends.

It’s also become a creative space where coaches share drills, swap ideas, and check in with each other. From discussing session plans to collaborating on new approaches, the BPA community continues to grow, keeping the spirit of learning and collaboration alive well beyond the course.

As one recent graduate, Paula Edwards, shared:

“This was an excellent padel coaching course that really helped me on two levels. As a player, I picked up lots of technical tips and game strategies to improve my own performance. As a developing coach, I also learned new ways of explaining concepts, structuring sessions, and giving feedback… I came away feeling more confident both in my own game and in my ability to coach padel more effectively.”

This kind of growth is exactly what we aim for, confident, capable coaches who go on to raise the standard of padel in their local clubs and communities.

A Different Kind of Coach Development

We actively support the LTA’s coach education programmes, which play an important role in professionalising the sport. But BPA offers something unique.

Our focus goes beyond accreditation, giving coaches deeper technical understanding, tactical insight, and practical tools to elevate both their coaching and their own game.

For some, our Introduction to Coaching course is their first step into padel coaching. For others, it’s an opportunity to build on existing qualifications and gain new perspective.

Whatever the starting point, our goal is the same: to create coaches who truly understand padel, and who can deliver high-quality, engaging sessions that keep players improving and coming back for more.

Learning from the Best, Building at Home

At the British Padel Academy, we regularly travel to Spain — the global home of padel — to learn from leading academies and coaches. Led by Head Coach and Founder Dan Troy, whose experience spans from developing grassroots talent to multiple Team GB players, these international exchanges help us continually refine the BPA coaching methodology — a system with a proven track record of developing both coaches and athletes at elite levels.

But while we value international learning, our mission is firmly rooted here in the UK.

With Dan’s deep understanding of player development and his passion for raising coaching standards, we see enormous potential in British padel — in the players, the clubs, and especially the coaches. By nurturing homegrown talent, sharing global insights, and creating accessible training opportunities, we’re helping build a stronger national coaching culture from the ground up.

PADEL COACHES Raising Standards, Strengthening Clubs

When we invest in coaches, the entire ecosystem benefits.

A well-trained coach creates more confident players. Confident players stay engaged, improve faster, and contribute to vibrant club communities.

Our mission is to ensure that as padel continues to grow commercially, the standard of coaching keeps pace — improving player experience, raising retention, and strengthening clubs across the UK.

Looking Ahead

From grassroots players to those representing Team GB, the British Padel Academy has played a part in developing some of the nation’s top padel talent.

But we’re just getting started.

The UK padel scene is booming, and we believe collaboration is key to sustaining that momentum. By working together — coaches, clubs, and governing bodies alike — we can raise the standard of padel for everyone.

At BPA, our commitment is simple: to keep learning, keep sharing, and keep building a community that puts passion and purpose at the centre of coaching.

We’re here for the coaches who share that vision.

We’re here for those who love the sport as much as we do.
